NetCom Saga Development Project Committee is testing a project designed to apply computer networks to Business Process Re-engineering.

During the first stage of the project (April 1998 - March 2001), the broadband network (NetCom Infrastructure) was constructed and practical operation tests were performed. As of April 1, 2001 the NetCom Infrastructure was made available for business use.

Cable television stations located in Saga City, Karatsu, Imari, and Takeo have begun accepting applications for use of the NetCom Infrastructure.

During fiscal 2001 (April 2001 - March 2002) the testing project is being advanced to stage two, in which we intend to take the fullest advantage of the synergy created by linking the following four areas:

Cyber Revolution in Saga Prefecture
1.Prefecture-wide penetration of NetCom Infrastructure
2.Promotion of IT technology among businesses throughout the prefecture
3.Improving NetCom Infrastructure services through links with major IT companies
4.Promotion of IT technology in medical, nursing care, and other public services throughout the prefecture

Research and Development
1.Development of IT research utilizing resources of "Japan Gigabit Network" (an organization of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications)
2.Enforcement of Telecommunications Advancement Organization of Japan "IPv6 information appliance sponsored research"
3.Research in cooperation with major IT companies

Fusion with Society and Schools
1.Cooperation with the Advanced Educational Network Model Area Project(PDF Page2) organized by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and the Ministry of Education
2.Cooperation with the Interactive Education (IE) Association's activities

This meeting place for many types of metal machine production enterprises with its multi-language search function and translation service.
For all projects, participants use funding provided by their national governments along with other funding.

The NetCom Office is in charge of total operations per order of the NetCom Saga Development Project Committee.
